Parable: The River and the Stone
Once, in the high mountains, there was a young river, swift and eager to reach the valley below. It rushed over rocks, carving its path with force, believing that speed alone would carry it forward.
One day, it met an ancient stone, unyielding and weathered by time. The river tried to push past it with all its might, but the stone did not move. Frustrated, the river raged against the obstacle, wearing itself down in fury.
A wise elder river, watching from a distance, spoke to the young one: "You seek to move the stone with force alone, yet you forget that even the mightiest river bends when it meets resistance. True strength lies not in force, but in the humility to flow around what cannot be moved and the rigor to carve your path when necessary."
The young river pondered these words. It learned to test its strength against the stone not with brute force, but with patience and adaptability. Over time, it found that it could soften the stone’s edges where it touched, wearing it down not by collision alone, but by persistence and play—a dance of give and take.
And so, the river reached the valley, not unscathed, but wiser, having learned that humility and rigor are two sides of the same coin: one softens, the other shapes; together, they create beauty where resistance once seemed insurmountable.
